Coal slime is one of the main by-products in the coal washery. Slime production rate is about 10% of coal washing quantity. Coarse coal slime density is high. Generally speaking, coal slime has the features of big moisture content, small particle size, big viscosity, low heat value. The coal sludge product usually has a moisture content of about 30%, the particle size of less than 0.5 mm, and the heat value of less than 4000 kcal/kg. Of these slime products, a fraction of slime with high calorific value was directly blended into the mixing steam coal, and another part of slime with moderate heat value was sold as a civil fuel and coal briquette processing raw materials, while the rest, due to the restriction of the moisture content and calorific value, transportation, storage, is very difficult to recycle. Therefore it is in poor condition. This rest part of the coal slime has occupied lots of land and polluted the environment.
It is a pity that lots of coal slime is wasted, and the key is to reduce the water content in the slime. When the moisture content in coal slime is reduced, the viscosity decreases and the heat value increases, thereby improving the combustion ability of the coal mud slime and satisfying the requirements of power plant storage, distribution, powder production and combustion. At present, the feasible method of moisture reduction for large quantities of coal mud is mechanical drying, which is processing the coal mud by the system of large drum coal mud dryer. This kind of coal slime drying technology has been widely used. There are a lot of successful use cases. This technique can reduce water below 13%. The coal is naturally formed during the drying process (form the irregular globular material whose size < 20 mm), and calorific value can be increased by more than 600 kcal/kg.
