The woodchip's moisture affects a lot on its calorific value. As researched, fresh wood chipping usually has a moisture of above 60%,which are of 2100kw/h calorific value per ton. After drying woodchips to 20% moisture content, wood chipping can provide energy double about 4200kw/h per ton.
Every 1 ton of dry wood chips burning can substitute about 405 L of heating oil.

Futhermore, wood chips can be made into biomass wood pellet by granulator machine, which is higher efficiency, cleaner and more consistent combustion than the simple chips state.

Last but not least, only the moisture below 30%, wood chips is suitable for storage.
